i) TYPES ON COMBUSTION

Combustion is the act of burning, in which fuel, heat and oxygen release energy. There are several types of combustion, such as internal combustion, diesel combustion, low temperature combustion and other novel forms.

ii) PRINCIPALS OF EXTINGUISHING FIRE

The basic principles of fire extinguishing apply; removing the oxygen is the best course of action. This can be achieved by smothering the flames with the hand, or by lying on the ground if the flames are on the back, effectively removing the oxygen supply to the fire.
