There are three main stages in the life cycle of a frog. Egg >tadpole >adult. An adult female frog lays eggs in water in large numbers like hundreds. This group of eggs is called a spawn. When the sperms released by the male frog come in contact with these eggs, they fertilize. The tadpole that hatches out of the egg looks different from an adult frog. It has no limbs but a fin. It breathes through gills and does not have lungs like the adult frog. The tadpole slowly undergoes many changes to reach its final stage. It then develops it's hind limb and tail. Then it slowly gets the appearance like a frog but with a tail. Then only it becomes a adult frog. And this process in which it undergoes several changes to become adult is called metamorphosis. Hope you understand! :-)
