With back-to-school time right around the corner, HomeFirst is here to help you get ready. Today, we’re looking at the benefits of carpooling to school. If you don’t know, carpooling is an arrangement among a group of parents in which each owner takes turns driving a group of children (including their own) to school.
Chances are your child attends school with other students living in your manufactured home community. To initiate the carpool, simply ask other parents if they would like to participate. Here are 6 benefits of carpooling:
1) Convenience: You can’t beat the convenience of having a reliable carpool system. Optimally, you might only be responsible for driving the carpool once a week! It’s especially easy to organize a carpool in your community. Since all the homes are near each other, you don’t have to scramble around town to pick up all the students. This makes carpooling fast, easy and efficient.
2) Environmentally Friendly: Carpooling is one of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint and take better care of the environment. There’s reason environmental agencies support carpooling so much! With fewer cars on the road, there’s less pollution. If everyone carpooled, it would make a big difference! 3) Save Money: It’s no secret that gas is quite expensive. Filling a full tank can cost more than $60! With a carpool, you save on gas because you don’t have to drive your kids to school and pick them up every day. In fact, you might only have to do it once or twice a week. That adds up to major savings. Think about what else you can do with that money!
4) Reliable: Not every school district has a reliable bus system. With a carpool, you can directly communicate with the driver. You know when he or she is going to arrive, and if there’s a setback they can call you directly. Plus, it’s nice being able to know and trust the person who is driving your child.
5) Friendships: Carpooling is a good way to make friends — not only for students, but for parents, too. For kids, they’ll benefit from being able to walk into school with classmates every day. For adults, the relationship established through carpooling can transition into a very real and valuable friendship.
