Some facts about constituent Assembly -
● The first meeting on the constituent assembly of India took place in an assembly hall on December 9, 1946. The hall is now known as Lok Sabha central hall.
● Initially it's total membership was kept 398.
● After partition the constituent assembly had 299 members as some were separated to join Pakistan's constituent assembly while some did not join by themselves.
● Seventeen committees were created by constituent assembly to perform different tasks. Chairman of the draft committee was Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
● The constitution was adopted on 26th November 1949.
● The constitution came into force on 26th January 1950.
