Here's ur answer :-

Friction is helpful in generating heat in cases such as burning of a matchstick. When the gunpowder tip of the matchstick when struck to the strip of red phosphorus, friction acts there and helps in reaching the ignition temperature due to the heat produced by striking the matchstick.
