The deccan sultanates were five late-medievial Indian kingdoms- on the deccan pleateu between the Krishna River and Vindhya Range - that were ruled by Mughals dynasties: namely- Ahamadnagar, Berar, Bidar, Bijapur, and Golconda. The sultanes had become independent during the break-up of the Bahmani Sultanate.
