Who is responsible for all that ails India? What is the India of my dreams?

Dr. Abdul Kalam had once asked a little girl, what was her dream for India? The reply “I dream of a developed India”.

This impressed him and Ito be honest this is also ‘My dream’. I dream of an India where every one is educated, there is employment for all and everyone is satisfied and happy.

I dream of an India, where many scientists are engaged in doing significant researches, an India, which would be known for great scientific and technological advancements, an India where the likes of Tata’s and Birla’s would come up with new inventions, leaving the whole world amazed, great minds of the world guessing as to how the impossible was achieved An India, which is a leader not only in making new discoveries/inventions but also in spirituality, an India with an excellent net work of roads and bridges connecting even the remotest parts An India, where sustainable growth and development go hand in hand.

Every person plants and cares for a minimum of 10 to 20 trees in his life time, where wild life is safe from poachers, where Man lives in harmony with Nature, where no one is afraid of speaking the truth and where there is no corruption.

Women are respected and people from all religions co-exist and where every Indian is proud of being an Indian. Where people are not afraid of leaving their houses open and there is no crime in the country, everyone is satisfied.

I dream of an India where market places, roads are spotlessly clean, where the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained where garbage is not spilling on the roads and animals are not roaming around on the streets.

I dream of an India, where farmers are respected as much as any other professional, where people are not superstitious, an India which is not only superior in science and technology but also in sports, where we are able to win maximum medals in Olympics and other international games, This is the India of my dream- this is the India in which I want to live-the India of which I am a proud citizen.

This is my India, a great country dominating the international scene, a land of peace, prosperity and plenty.

In the end, I dream of an India as described by Rabinder Nath Tagore in the following lines.

“Where the Head is held high where the mind is without fear into that Heaven of freedom “O Lord” let my country awake”

INDIA OF MY DREAMS.
India of my dreams is an admixture of the virtues of the past and the realities of the present. I would not like the nation to do away with the valor of Rani Chenamma, Rani Laxmibai, Shivaji and Maharana Pratap. They represent the aggressive spirit of the people who fought against foreigners for centuries. But the foreigners ruled over the country for a long time. People became submissive. They lost their honor. It is to be revived.

The people of India should have a confidence that they can stand on their own. They have not to depend on other countries for anything. The heroes and heroines of the past glorified the country with their bravery. The misguided leadership is throwing the country into the arms of multinational companies. It will make us slaves in the field of industry and business. Instead of depending on others we should show our superiority in trade and industry. Material development is the basis of success in this age. Let us walk a step beyond the age of computer. The India of my dreams is a land of great scientist.

The land of my dreams is not a land of mere business tycoons as Japan is, India, today, is a land of riches and poverty. On the one pole are ultra rich. On the other are the people below the line of poverty. I wish the development of a middle class society- a society dominated by small-scale producers and those running the cottage industries. I dream of a nation of affluence, but not dominated by the affluent.

Education is the soul of a nation. The India of my dream is a land of hundred per cent educated people. Let us do away with the farce of calling those people literate who can write only their names and those educated who have procured a certificate through copying and other unfair means. Let my country have people who are really educated s that they may think about the welfare of the society and strength of the nation. It is through education that we can retain our culture, control our population, reject dogmas and the false history that was written by foreigners and is retained by selfish leaders.

India of my dream will have no scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes. Everyone will be an honorable citizen. Everyone will have the same social status. There will be no upper or lower castes. The male chauvinism will disappear and women will enjoy the same status as enjoyed by men. Let this dram be a reality.
