⇒ (1 - i)/(1² - i²)  [(a - b)(a + b) = a² - b²]

⇒ (1 - i)/(1 + 1) [i² = - 1]

⇒ (1 - i)/2

⇒1/2 - i/2

Now this in the form x + iy with x = 1/2 and y = -1/2
