What story says ?
★ It's a story which revolves around a child who is fascinated by seeing the materialistic things in the fair. Later on, he was lost in the fair and at the end the only thing he want is his parents.
Explanation :
It was a spring season, There was a fair in the village. A little boy is running to and fro with full of excitement in the fair. He sees toys in toy shop and he just wanted all of them. His parents ask him to hurry. The child decided to ask his parents to make him buy the toys but also he know that they will not agree. His mother then try to make his mind on another things , she shows him flowering mustard field. There he saw flying dragonflies, he try to catch them and his parents were calling him to came along but he was so lost in chasing them that he suddenly hears his parent call and went towards them.
They were sitting under the drive , when the child reached there , he saw flowers are falling and he started gathering the petals. He later on , hears doves cooing and he dropped the petals and run towards his parents. When they again approach village, at that time the fair was too crowded. The child sees a sweetmeat sellers shop and he was soo excited , seeing too many colourful sweets out of which Barfi was his favourite. But he again know that his parents will refuse to buy them and call him greedy. So, he doesn't tell anything to his parents.
He then sees a flower-seller selling garlands of gulmohur flowers.He wanted it but again he think that his parents says the flowers look soo cheap and that why he didn't ask them. After that, the child sees a man selling balloons of many colours, he wants to get them all. But again he knows his parents will say he is not a child at all who paly with balloons. Next, he sees a snake charmer playing music to a snake that is coiled in a basket. But he knows that his parents strictly tell him not to listen such sound , so he walj forward. After that, he saw a merry-go-round.
Finally, he asked his parents for a turn at the merry-go-round, but he receives no reply.
Then, he sees there was no one there neither his mother or nor his father. He got anxious and started crying. He tries to find them. Then, a man saw him crying and he ask the child about his parents but he keeps continue crying then the man ask whether he want to ride the merry go round, the child strictly refused. Now , the man trying to give him all the things which he wanted previously but the only thing the child want now his parents.

★ Mulk Raj Anand is one the first Indian writer who wrote his story in English language. He was born in Peshawar. He completed his earlier education from Punjab University and later on he achieved his high qualifications from University College, London.

★ Mulk Raj gain his popularity from his novel Untouchables and Coolie which later on become worldwide famous. He usually worte about lives of poor people, social issues , caste system , social evils etc.
- Moral and Lesson from the story :
★ This story makes us understand the value of relationship and our loved one's instead of materialistic things. When the child lost in the fair , it was then he realised that the things he was chasing before is quite not that much important than his parents. He understands the value of having parents.

★ The Child - He was a very joyful and excited child who was fascinated by all the things came into the way to the fair although he knows his parents wouldn't allow him to buy them.
★ Father - The child's father seems to a strict person. That's why the child even hesitate before asking anything from him.
★ Mother - The child's mother seems to be a loving one. She distracted his child's mind so that he wouldn't feel sad and she is trying to keep him happy.
It is the story which tell us about a little child who becomes the target of an uncomfortable event . He lost his all loved ones at the fair which is held in the village . This story referred the struggle to getting lost and separated from the security from his one's loved ones. His also lost his parents in the fair .
In the fair there are very beautiful toys , Balloons and many more . There are also sweets and candies . The child wanted to buy all the things but his parents didi not allow to buy all the things . These things were hanging behind the fair . That's why the child lost
