Yes this one is so important for any democratic country. As I know,democracy is defined as a government of the people and by the people. Such government as in the ancient city states of Greece can be formed with the people directly participating in them. But in countries like India England USA Russia etc are the modern state with several million people,cannot have direct democracy. In India there is largest democracy from any country of the world in terms of population and vastness,government of both centre and their consitutent state for elected for 5 year term. The electorate of so many crore people in this country participants in the election helds on the universal adult franchise and send there representatives to both the parliament and state legislatures expecting that these representatives will safeguard their interest and work to attain the goal of progress,prosperity,,unity and integrity of India and also to ensure rights and freedom of the people.
