• Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar, a small town in the state of Gujarat.

• The name of his father was Karamchand Gandhi and mother’s name was Putlibai. Gandhi’s father was a diwan of Porbandar, Rajkot and Bankaner princely states.

• Mahatma Gandhi had his primary education in Rajkot and in 1881 he was married to Kasturba.

• During 1884-85, Mahatma Gandhi had devoured the meat secretly. But he could not hide this act from his parents, and with apology, he determined to renounce the untruth in life and take the path of truth.

• At the age of 7, he started going to school, completed high school studies in 1888, went to Bhavnagar for further studies, but returned without mind and Mavji Dwe suggested him to go to England.

• Gandhiji also made efforts to become a gentleman, in this regard, he also made efforts to master dance, French language and speech arts which were futile.

• After reading the religious books Gita and Bible, Gandhi had said that the wall of the desert, which had been atheism of his mind, has collapsed.
