Answer:

Characteristics of Modern periodic table

The elements are arranged based on their increasing atomic number.

There are 7 periods and 18 groups in the table.

The inert gases i.e. He, Ne, Ar, etc. are kept in 0 at the extreme right side of the table.

All the groups are divided into sub groups A and B except 0 and VIII group in the modern periodic table.

BOTH THE ANSWER ARE PROVIDED ... PLEASE MARK BRAINLIEST

Explanation:

Advantages of Mendeleev's periodic table:-

  1. Mendeleev was the first one to establish a systematic arrangement and bring out the periodicity of properties of elements with atomic weight and propose a periodic law.
  2. It could point out the incorrect atomic weight of some elements known at that time.
  3. It could predict the existence of other elements and could predict their properties so, as to leave space in the periodic table.
  4. It could accommodate all the sixty elements discovered at that time and could accommodate the noble gases which, where discovered later.

Characteristics of the modern periodic table

  1. The long form of periodic table consist of vertical columns called groups and horizontal rows called periods.
  2. Elements are arranged in the increasing order of atomic numbers.
  3. Elements in the modern periodic table are arranged in 7 periods and 18 groups.
  4. Horizontal rows are called periods and vertical columns are called groups.
  5. Elements are placed in periods based on the number of shells in their atoms.
  6. The shortest period is the first period which contains only two elements – Hydrogen and Helium.
  7. The second period contains elements from Lithium to Neon.
  8. The third period contains elements from Sodium to Argon.
  9. The fourth period contains elements from Potassium to Krypton.
  10. The fifth period contains elements from Rubidium to Xenon.
  11. Sixth period is considered as the longest periods in the periodic table. It contains elements from Cesium to Radon
  12. Seventh period is incomplete period
  13. In group IIIB of the sixth period Lanthanides are placed.
  14. In group IIIB of the seventh period Actinides are placed
  15. In periodic table Lanthanides and Actinides are shown in the bottom of the periodic table.
