The Green Revolution occurred during the 1960's and 1970's. It involved the introduction of High Yielding Varieties (HYV's) of rice and wheat. The aim of the Green Revolution was to increase food production and encourage self-sufficiency in LEDCs.

  • Introduction of new and high yielding variety of seeds.
  •  Increased use of fertilizers, pesticides  in order to reduce agricultural loses.
  • Increased application of fertilizers in order to enhance agricultural productivity.
  •  Use of latest agricultural machinery like tractor, seed drills, threshers and harvester.
  • Use of high disease resistance varieties so that production will enhance.
