\huge\tt{ANSWER:}

The two different ideas about why few animals were killed in the tsunami are people believe that animals possess a sixth-sense of knowing the coming disaster, while some experts believe that animals' more acute hearing helps them to hear/feel the earth's vibration before the happening of the earthquake, so that the animals senses an approaching disaster. I believe the second reason as the animals' actue hearing might help them to sense the upcoming disaster.
