i) Plasmolysis :contraction of the protoplast of a plant cell as a result of loss of water from the cell.

ii) Eukaryotic cells :They have well defined membrane bound nucleus. In eukaryotes, the mitochondria and chloroplast perform various metabolic processes and are believed to have been derived from endosymbiotic bacteria.

Prokaryotic cells : They do not have well defined membrane bound nucleus. In prokaryotes similar processes occur across the cell membrane, endosymbionts are extremely rare.
