In construction, the more used plastic is the PVC. Whether you live in a flat or in a house, whether you work in a hospital, in a hardware… whether you are in a shopping centre, it is almost sure it has been used PVC in certain parts of the building. The reason is very simple, it is a very resistant material, with a high insulating power and that allows reducing the costs of production.
Transport:
All the means of transport that we know, among its materials of construction plastic is included. Either plane, trains, cars… all have plastic in many of its components. Due to the great quantity of the means of transport that there are at present and the need to reduce the atmospheric pollution, the plastic like Polypropylene (PP) or the ABS are the ideal materials for manufacturing them.
Medicine:
In this sector, the plastic has contributed to the improvement of the quality life of everybody.
Many medical devices like syringes, capsules, prosthesis, bags of serum, gloves and many more are made of plastic. Even the pacemakers that make people still live are manufactured with plastic or the insulation of the hospitals is made with PVC.
There is a rough calculation that in Spain it is consumed some 38.000 tons of plastic only in the hospital sector.
Electronics
Plastic in this sector highly contributes to protect from the external agents, due to its insulating capacity. This make that communications get better considerably.
The age of the technology has been always accompanied by the plastics. Cables, computers, fixed telephones, mobile phones… all of them are manufactured with plastics like the PVC.
Agriculture:
At present agriculture produces much more quantities of products than before and great part of that is due to the apparition of plastic. It has been useful to cover the agricultural crops and protect them from the external contaminants.
The most common uses of the plastic within the agriculture are the following ones: greenhouses, pipes for the conduction of water… tunnels of cropping, etc.
That its use is so large within this sector is due to the many benefits that the plastic like the PVC has. It disperses the light but it doesn’t affect to the solar radiation, they are resistant to hits and scratching…
