Applications of Electrolysis:

  • It is generally used for decomposition of Compounds/molecules. Example: H2O is separated to H2 and O2 using electrolysis
  • It is also used in the displacement reaction to displace low reactive metal from its compound.

Explanation:

applications of electrolysis are as follows :

1. Production of hydrogen by electrolysis of water.

2.Manufacture of heavy water.

3.Metals like K,Al,Mg etc. are obtained by electrolysis of fused electrolytes .

4. Non-metals like hydrogen, fluorine , are obtained by electrolysis.

Hope this will help you
