Dialysis is the artificial kidney process to filter the blood.

najahalikhan2004: The patients blood is pumped through an apparatus called dialyzer. The dialyzer contains long tubes, the walls of which acts as a semi- permeable membrane. Blood flows through the tubes while the dialysis fluid flows around the tubes. Extra water and wastes moves from blood to dialysis fluid. The cleansed blood is then returned back to the body.

● Blood of patient is taken out from main artery then it is cooled to 0℃ and mixed with anticoagulant such as heparin

● Blood is pumped into artificial kidney. Here blood flows through channels or tubes formed of semipermeable membrane of cellophane.

● Through these cellophane tubes the nitrogenous wastes diffuses out.

● The blood that comes out of artificial kidney is pure blood. It is then warmed to body temperature and mixed with antiheparin to restore its normal coagulability and is returned to the vein of patient.
