Ca + 2 H₂ O ➞ Ca ( OH )₂ + H ₂
❇ When Calcium reacts with water, the reaction is less vigorous and it fors calcium hydroxide with release of hydrogen gas, but the heat evolved is not sufficient for hydrogen gas to catch fire and so it sticks over the surface of calcium hydroxide.
