When ethanoic acid (Carboxylic acids) react with ethanol (alcohols) in presence of concentrated sulphuric acid as catalyst and form sweet smelling compounds called ester.

C2H5OH + CH3COOH ----> CH3COOC2H5 + H2O ethanol ethanoic acid ethyl ethanoate.

Ethanoic Acid + Sodium Carbonate -----> Sodium Ethanoate + Carbon Dioxide + Water.

In this case,

2CH3CO2H(aq) + Na2CO3(s) ------> 2CH3CO2Na(aq) + CO2(g) + H2O(l).
