Question (a) = Write the balanced chemical equation for the reaction of potassium metal and water forming

potassium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.

Answer = Chemical equation: 2K(s)+2H2O(l)→2KOH(aq)+H2(g)

Question (b) = Identify the reducing agent in the following reaction:

Fe2O3 + 3CO  2Fe + 3CO2

Answer = In the following reaction we see that 3CO starts to gain oxygen while it is reacting with Fe2O3 and hence become 3CO2. Since, 3CO is getting oxidized, hence, the reducing agent is 3CO.

Hope it helps you
