Answer:
NaCl + MnO₂ + H₂SO₄ → NaHSO₄ + MnSO₄ + H₂O + Cl₂
This reaction is not balanced. The reactants and products are given, thus to balance the reaction,
i) 2 Cl atoms at right side while 1 in left side.
Put a 2 before NaCl making the number of Cl atoms balanced.
ii) Now there are 2 Na atoms at left while 1 at right.
To balance it put 2 before NaHSO₄.
iii) Consider (SO₄) -- 3 units in right hand side, 1 in left hand side.
Put a 3 before H₂SO₄ in left hand side, thus number of (SO₄) units get balanced.
iv) Balance the excess H atoms at left side,
by putting a 2 before H₂O.
And thus the reaction as a whole gets balanced.
2NaCl + MnO₂ + 3H₂SO₄ = 2NaHSO₄ + MnSO₄ + 2H₂O + Cl₂
