but x=y so dist is 0 so there is no displacement. if displacement X - Y =0 so X=Y on path length. ... Displacement can be zero but distance cannot be zero because distance is the total path covered but displacement is the shortst distance between the initial and final position. It can be zero at the end of one round.

when initial and final position of the object will be same
let's take the initial position be 0 and it travels to a distance x and the returns to 0
then distance travelled=2x
but displacement=0
