Methane (CH4) is an alkaline and the covalent molecule which in its stable form its neutral however if it were to loss a Proton (H + Ion) it would be the anion because there is now one more electron than protons. But wait, if CH4 loses a proton , it's no longer CH4. It will become CH3-
