Heya friend,
Here's your answer:
▪Natural Causes of soil erosion:
1). Topography or Relief: Loese particles of soil slide in the downward direction due to gravitational force. Hence, steep slopes have thin cover of soil. These areas are more affected by the erosive actionof wind and water.
2). Water: Heavy rainfall, streams, rivers, etc flowing in the direction of slope on the Earth's surface are responsible for large-scale soil erosion.
3). Wind: wind carries loose dry soil particles. Therefore soil erosion by wind is more in the arid and semi-arid regions
4).Sea waves- Soil erosion in coastal areas areas is carried out by sea waves.
▪Human Causes:
1). Deforestation: Due to deforestation, Top soil layer is removed and the soil is exposed to erosional effects.
2). Over-grazing- Over-grazing destroys the grass cover when animals consume newly grown grass. This exposes the soil layer to erosional effects.
3). Wrong Farming Practices: Farmer practice such as shifting cultivation are responsible for large scale erosion of soil.
4). Urbanisation: Growth and spread of towns result in enroachment on fertile agriculture land. As a result of which top soil is removed.
