Write the cell reaction and calculate Eº cell of the following
electrochemical cell:
AllAl3+||Zn2+Izn

Given that,

Cell potential of Al E^{o}_{Al}=-1.66\ V

Cell potential of Zn E^{o}_{Zn}=-0.76\ V

We know that,

Zinc is anode and silver is cathode.

We need to calculate the cell potential E⁰

Using formula of cell potential

E^{o}_{cell}=E^{o}_{cathod}-E^{o}_{anode}

Where, E^{o}_{cathod} = cell potential of Al

E^{o}_{anode} = cell potential of Zn

Put the value into the formula

E^{o}_{cell}=-1.66-(-0.76)

E^{o}_{cell}=-0.9\ V

Hence, The cell potential E⁰ is -0.9 V.
