The Trees is a beautiful poem written by Adrienne Rich. It shows the conflict between man and nature.

The poet sees the trees and imagines them to be moving. She feels the trees has been forcefully kept inside home by the human beings. But the real place for them is 9n the forest and they look better there. As there's no tree in forest, the birds and insects have nowhere to hide themselves.

The poet sees the trees are revolting. She feels the leaves, the twigs are working to be free. The branches are tired but they still work.

At last poet sits and watchs the trees are moving outside, out of human captivity. the tallest oak shattered the moon like a broken picture.

At last the forest got back it's trees and thus it's main constituent.
