Hello" Silberberg was the boy Anne was closest to at the time her family went into hiding. His parents had sent him to the Netherlands with the hope of Hitler respecting Holland's nutrality. Although Hello had a crush on Anne, she wrote in her diary that she actually was "not in love with Hello, he is just a friend, or as mummy would say, one of my 'beaux.'"
