Character sketch of Lady Macbeth :
Lady Macbeth was an extremely ambitious woman. She loved her husband deeply and wanted to see him as the King of Scotland.
When she heard the prophecy of the third witch, she resolved to fulfill it by hook or by crook. She plotted the murder of the old King - Duncan.
She had super human courage and stamina. Thus she controlled the situation and Macbeth became the King. But she could not forget that her sons could not be the kings.
Fear and tension were preying upon her. She could not sleep. Gradually she suffered a nervous breakdown. She fell into somnambulism and she always walked in sleep with a taper in her hand. She tried to wash her hand of Duncan's blood. She ultimately committed suicide in despair. Her death was a terrible blow to Macbeth.

Lady Macbeth is one of Shakespeare's most famous and frightening woman. She is already plotting Duncan's murder so that she could become the Queen of Scotland. She is a sly and spiteful lady which means she has two sides. From the above she appears to be a very kind woman while by heart she's a poisonous snake as you can remember she was the one who plotted to kill Macbeth's friend Banquo after hearing from Macbeth about the prophecy that Banquo's sons will be kings. She is much more ambitious,ruthless and stronger than her husband in the story. She is fully aware and knows that she has to force her husband for committing murder. For some time she wishes that she should have been a man so she could murder Duncan herself. She doesn't care of anything except power,fortune and money. Later she feels a pang of guilty and kills herself and she also kills herself when she realizes that their children couldn't be kings. When Macbeth hears that Lady Macbeth has died he feels some of his courage disappear.
