Mrs Packletide's Tiger is satire on the conceited follies and vanities of certain people living during Saki's time. Almost all the characters(except the poor villagers, and of course the wretched tiger) in the story suffered from some one flaw or the other. Mrs Packletide also had certain flaws in her personality. She was vain as she had too high an opinion about her own self. She was jealous and competitive as she could not tolerate Loona Bimberton's success and the ensuing media coverage. She was shrewd and manipulative as she succeeded in arranging a tiger hunt for herself. Though later she came to know that she had been duped by the villagers who had sold her an old and decrepit tiger. All these put together stamp she was materialistic.
