Answers
Answer:
Though he is not the narrator of The Time Machine, the Time Traveller is the book's protagonist. He is an eminent but eccentric British scientist, and his particular interest in time travel leads him to build a time machine that transports himself into the future.
Answer:
The Time Traveller
A well-read and intelligent man of science. He is versed in the theories of his day, and very clearly a Darwinist, like Wells himself, and his thoughts echo much of Wells's own theories about the Britain of his time.
Mr. Hillyer
The narrator, Mr. Hillyer, is the Time Traveller's dinner guest. His curiosity is enough to make him return to investigate the morning after the first time travel.
Our story takes place in a suburb of London called Richmond (which, yes, is part of London now). We don't see very much of the house in which it's set, just that it has a dining room, smoking room, laboratory, garden, man-servant, housekeeper, and maybe a cook.
