When resistor of resistance R are connected in series the equivalent resistance is equal to the sum of individual resistance Thus R =r1+r2+r3............... The current I which is the current through through the circuit will remain same for each individual resistance That is I=i1=i2=i3................. The voltage for each resistor will divide in the ratio of their resistance if the voltage through the circuit is V then the resistor would have the potential difference is v1,v2,v3........... The potential difference V1 V2 V3 and so on will be equal to given ratio V2 ratio V3 so on for V              OR V1=Ir1 V2=Ir2 ............ V=V1+V2+V3..............
