The characteristics of annelids are:
1. Segmented body with septa separating each segment(metameres).
2. A true coelom is present.
3. It is protostomal in nature, i.e. the head develops first.
4. Presence of chaetae, which are hairs made up of a substance called chitin.
5. Presence of a closed circulatory system.
6. Presence of a hydrostatic skeleton( exception is leeches).
7. Paired nephridia present in each segment, and also ventral nervous system.
Examples are Earthworm, lugworms, leeches, etc.
