There is not much written about Millie in the novel. She was Mrs. Hall’s lazy and sluggish maid. She was not much help to Mrs. Hall. She did not do the work according to Mrs. Hall’s expectations. As a result she often chided and scolded her.
When the invisible man came to stay at Coach and Horses, Mrs. Hall did not ask Millie to look after his needs. She herself took the responsibility. Millie forgot to put the mustard bowl on the tray when Mrs. Hall took the meals for the invisible man in his room. Millie usually messed up with the tasks she was entrusted with.
In conclusion it can be said Mrs. Hall was not satisfied with Millie’s way of working, which would often annoy her.
