The electrons and the protons both carry charges.

The negative charge has been carrying electrons and on the other side the proton carrying the positive charge as well.

The charge of the proton is equivalent to 1.6×10−19C but is positive, and that of the electrons is 1.6×10−19C and is negative.

There is also a neutral particle in the atom, and it is known as the Neutron.

The proton and the neutron stay inside the nucleus of the atom and the electron revolves in orbit around it.
