Answer : The balanced chemical equation is, Cr_2O_3+2Al\rightarrow Al_2O_3+2Cr

Explanation :

Alumino-thermite process : This process involves the reduction of metal oxide such as Fe_2O_3,Cr_2O_3,Mn_3O_4,etc to metals with aluminium. A mixture of metal oxide and aluminium powder is called thermite.

In this process, a mixture of aluminium powder and chromate oxide called thermite is ignited in a closed crucible by inserting a burning magnesium ribbon into the ignition mixture consisting of magnesium powder and barium powder. The ignition powder burns to produce a large amount of heat needed to initiate the reaction.

The balanced chemical equation will be,

Cr_2O_3+2Al\rightarrow Al_2O_3+2Cr

This reaction is highly exothermic reaction.
