Hi there,

The Reverberatory furnace is a furnace used for smelting and refining in which the material is melt by indirect contact of flames with the material.

The copper is formed of by the reduction of Cu2O and Cu2S in the process of extraction of copper from its sulphide ore. This reaction gives 98% copper by auto reduction. Electrolytic refining can be used for obtaining 99.9% pure copper. The reaction followed in the process is given below:

2CuFeS2 + O2 ----> Cu2S + 2FeS + SO2

Finally

2Cu2O + Cu2S -----> 6Cu + SO2

Hope it helped
