ACIDS

Acids are the compound which when dissolved in water yeilds hydronium ions H_3O^{+} as only positively charged ions.

Property of acids

It gives out salt ,carbondioxide and water when reacts with a bicarbonate salt.

Sodium bicarbonate

Sodium is a highly reactive metal which lies in the group one and peroid onecof the modern peroidic table , it has valency as +1.

Bicarbonate is a negative radicak with valency -1.

When both reacts it forms sodium bicarbonate.

When an acid reacts with sodium carbonate.

When an acid like hydrochloric acid or sulphuric acid reacts with sodium bicarbonate it, according to its acidic property gives out salt, water and carbon dioxide.

Equation :-

 NaHCO_3 + HCl \longrightarrow NaCl + H_2O + CO_2
