Chemical test:
1. Gambir-Fluorescin test:
A mixture of alcoholic extract, sodium hydroxide solution and petroleum ether is shaken and kept for few minute. The petroleum ether layer show green fluoresces.
2. Match stick test (Catechins test):
A match stick is dipped in aqueous plant extract, dried near burner and moistened with concentrated hydrochloric acid. On warming near flame, the matchstick wood turns pink or red due to formation of phloroglucinol.

Test of Pale Catechu
Explanation:
- The chemical of pale catechu is the part of Gambier fluorescin which gives the fluorescence
- The test of Vanillin-hydrochloric test is the Drug which show red or pink colour with the vanillin alcohol, the ratio of dilute HCl is 1:10:10
- Gambier fluorescin present in pale catechu gives the fluorescence. On the off chance that to its alcohol extract, a little sodium hydroxide is included and shaken with oil ether
- The petroleum ether layer shows green fluorescence
