Therefore, it forms an emulsion in water and helps in dissolving the dirt when we wash our clothes.

Most of the dirt are oily and oil cant dissolve in water so soap and detergent contain pottasium salts therefore it creates a emulsion when washed with water. And dirt comes off when washed.
