A turmeric paper retains its yellow colour if it is treated with acidic or neutral solutions. It turns bright red if alkaline or basic solutions are added to it. Since a turmeric paper retains its yellow colour when treated with acids, it retains the same colour when lemon juice is added to it as lemon juice is acidic in nature.
