It is been six months since our planet was struck by an alien ship and took the world governments under their control. Now it is September and it is raining outside. I was playing with my dad and my elder brother on this same day the previous year. Now I am all alone in my home behind the locked doors.
My father was killed by an alien armed troop last month while he attempted to protect me and my brother from them. My brother helped me to escape from the scenario just minutes before he was taken down by the troopers and dragged to the cantonment area.
I ran back home and shut the door with a slam and hidden under the bookshelf where I used to hide while playing hide and seek with my brother. Now I am all alone for a month. I am just 16 years old young girl, surviving with the food that is left.
It was raining for the past two days. Now it is drizzling and I know it would become very intense at any minute. Suddenly, I have heard a thud from the main door. Within a second I jumped out of the sofa and grabbed the 500 Magnum when I heard the knock of the door.
I felt like I am going to face anything that comes in my way. So, walked slowly towards the door and peeked through the eyehole. I was shocked to see that familiar face. I kept my gun back in the holster and opened the door. My eyes started to shed a tear without my permission. My lips trembled to spell the word.
After a few minutes of silence, I gained the strength to spit out the word. Dad!. I leaned forward and hugged him tightly.
Dad! You are back. I saw you dying in front of my eye.
