“No. This cannot be happening,” I muttered to myself as I stared at what was right before my bespectacled eyes. I had been marooned on a deserted island. The ship I was in had run aground.
The sun shone brilliantly and the high clouds drifted across the clear blue sky. My hands felt clammy. I tried looking for any signs of human activity but there was nobody in sight. The thought of being all alone sent shivers down my spine.

Once I had went on a holiday trip with my friends. We had proposed so many plans to also visit some smaller islands and explore the unknown parts of the place.
On the very first day of our holiday, we had all packed and left for the farthest island, feeling excited about the prospect of finally seeing the place. And as we were exploring the island, under the leadership of our local guide, I got distracted by something that I thought I saw. By the time I had tried to rejoin the group, they seemed to have turned to a new path, for there I was, lost and stuck in the crossroads in the middle of the jungle. I didn't know which way to go, for there were numerous small paths in all directions. I shouted but no one seemed to hear me. I chose one and hoping I don't meet any wild animals, I moved forward. I seemed to have moved deeper into the forest, and by the time I decided to rest, it was already dark. The sky was clear and the wild sounds have started coming alive.
Scared and out of my wits end, I made a makeshift bed with dry leaves and tried to get as much sleep as I can. My night's sleep was continuously interrupted by strange sounds but luckily I didn't encounter any wild animal.
The next morning, I started with a fresh mind, also finished my snacks that I had packed yesterday After almost what seemed like decades of walking, I reached the shore of a side of the island. Staying there in the open beach was a relief for me, and after a couple of hours, I finally saw a motor boat coming towards me. They had been looking for me all night and had just thought of giving up when they decided to have one last round of circling the island. I felt so relieved and lucky to be found, and promised to pay closer attention to the guide from now onwards.
