If a system has at least one solution, it is said to be consistent . If a consistent system has exactly one solution, it is independent . If a consistent system has an infinite number of solutions, it is dependent . When you graph the equations, both equations represent the same line.

for having consistent solution, there are two ways

either the two pairs of equation will have one unique solution or infinite number of solution.

for having unique solution, the condition is:

a1/a2 should be unequal to b1/b2

in case of such pairs, when you draw a graph, the two lines will be intersecting at one point

for having infinite no of solutions, the condition is:

a1/a2 = b1/b2 = c1/c2

hope it helps
