The ideal favourable conditions for the formation and growth of delta include :
- There should be accelerated rate of erosion in the catchment area of concerned river . it in creases the amount of sediment supply .
- The river should have long middle and lower course . it declines the speed of water flow at the moment of the river .
- There should be suitable place in the form of shallow sea and lake shores at mouth of the river .
- There should be no strong currents and tides at the mouth of the river .
Example : such ideal conditions are found at the mouth river Ganga and Brahmaputra .
