There are many consequences if salivary gland stops producing saliva, such as:

- Saliva play a very important role in digestion. It has an enzyme called amylase that breaks down carbohydrates in mouth. In the absence of amylase, no digestion of carbohydrates ill take place.

- When we eat and chew food with the help of our teeth, saliva helps in the formation of bolus and sticks the food particles together. On the contrary, no saliva, no bolus formation

- Another function of saliva is to keep the oral cavity moist.

- When we see exotic food, our mouth cavity produces saliva that elevate the cravings.
