Write the coordinates of the point which – (a) Lies on the X-axis and is at a distance of 4 units to the right of the origin. (b) Lies on the Y-axis and is at a distance of 5 units below the X-axis.

a. if the point lies on x axis then the value of ordinate(y axis) is 0

and the distance of the point is 4 unit to the right of origin means it is positive.

so the coordinates of the point is (4,0)

b. if the point lies on y axis then the value of abscissa(x axis) is 0

and the distance of point is 5 unit below the x axis means it is negative 5.

so the coordinates of the point is (0,-5)
