Answer :-

"Cartilage" is generally a semi-solid and flexible material, which is present between the bones of organisms.

Extra Information :-

  • Cartilage is surrounded by a sheath of dense fibrous connective tissues known as "Perichondrium".

  • The cells of Cartilage are known as "Chondrocytes".

  • The Chondrocytes secrete a flexible matrix, known as "Chondrin".

  • "Chondrin" is a "Mucoprotien".

  • Cartilage is "Avascular" (not vascular).

  • Nutrients diffuse into the cartilage from the nearby tissues.

  • Blood vessels do not grow into the cartilage because Chondrocytes produce a chemical called "Antiangiogenesis factor".

  • "Antiangiogenesis factor" is a "Potential anti-cancer agent".
