open circuit when the switch is off and the current does not flows through it it is called an open circuit

closed circuit when the switch is on and current flows through it it is called a closed circuit as it provides a continuous flow for the current to current to pass through it

In a close circuit the switch is on and current and pass through the circuit.

But on a open circuit the switch is off and the current don't pass through the circuit.
