LAW OF DEFINITE PROPORTION

Ex: Pure Water from wherever it is taken its formula is H2O

and it will not change

LAW OF MULTIPLE PROPORTION

Ex: CO & CO2

Carbon shows variable valency so ti will form 2 different compounds with Oxygen.

Answer:

The Law of multiple proportions states that when two elements combine to form more than one compound, the weights of one element combined with a fixed weight of the other are in a ratio of small whole numbers.

Explanation:

Every sample of carbon monoxide contains 16.0 g of oxygen for every 12.0 g of carbon. This is a mass ratio of oxygen to carbon of 1.33 to 1. In the carbon dioxide, there is exactly twice as much oxygen present as there is in the carbon monoxide.
